Animated film Waltz with Bashir gets positive review

November 27th, 2008 by admin

Waltz with Bashir is an animated autobiographical documentary about an Israeli soldier who is sent to to Beirut and witnesses the infamous massacre at Sabra and Shatila in 1982. Waltz with Bashir is in the tradition of Persepolis, using animation to convey a political message. As explained in this Waltz with Bashir review, its originality lies in its format, using animation instead of a succession of interviews to tell the story of this horrible event. The animation blends classic styles, flash and 3D, which allows to incorporate metaphors in the autobiographical storyline, without distracting from the strong and painful political message it carries.
