Fort Adams State Park is a terrific attraction you won’t want to miss on a trip to Rhode Island. This is a beautiful natural area that provides stunning views of Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay. It is also the site of historic Fort Adams, an important military fort and strategic site from Revolutionary through modern times. In addition to learning about military architecture, engineering and history at Fort Adams, you can enjoy your favorite water-based sports and activities. Fort Adams State Park is a great place to go swimming or to learn to sail or windsurf. You can also try salt water fishing here or just relax and have a picnic.Two popular music festivals are held at Fort Adams State Park during the summer. The JVC Jazz Festival and the Newport Folk Festival are held over separate weekends, usually in August. Each festival features multiple states and many top performers from around the world.
