Out of State Insurance

We are currently residing in the upper northwest of the country and it just so happens that our state offers a great insurance for the families that qualify. We are about to move out of state and I am wondering if that state also offers medical insurance. If they do, will we be able to get it while we are in route to that state? Will we need to find temporary health insurance while we are traveling and perhaps to cover us before and after we arrive. How long will it take to prove residency and will we need coverage during that time as well?
