Day care, and finding a good one

When we first had my son, and I finally was thinking of being away from him, for even a limited amount of time, I started thinking of daycare centers. I would have loved to have seen a listing of daycare centers in my state, and even town, or city, but, I was not sure at that time if any such thing existed. I am still at home with my son now, since most daycare centers are 400.00 or more per month, per child. And that is even if they go one or two days, or five. Inexpensive daycare would be nicer, but, I doubt I could find a good center to look into.
