Engineered hardwood flooring overcomes the instability of solid hardwood flooing in mosture or heat related problems. Engineered Wood Floors have a multiple-ply plank which counteracts twisting and remains flat and intact. The advantage is that the top hardwood layer is the same genuine hardwood that you would have in solid hardwood floors. This top layer or "veneer" is available in most species of natural hardwood. So there is no compormise when it comes to the look or beauty.Laminate flooring has melamine infused paper on top and wood chip composite on the bottom. Laminate flooring can be sanded after scratches or dings develop.Solid wood flooring must be nailed to a wood sub floor.
