Wimbledon and Strawberries-Food for Thought

Of all the foods I really enjoy I think strawberries have to be up amongst my favorites. It looks like quite a few others feel the same way too. Looking at the figures for sales of strawberries at Wimbledon over the fortnight of the tennis tournament it is quite staggering. Every day 28,000 punnets are sold. Over the fortnight around 7000 litres of cream are used. The strawberries come from Kent, which is where they have been buying them in from every year. The amount of other types of food on sale at Wimbledon could keep a small army going I reckon. To me though whenever I think of summer, and Wimbledon, one of the first things that come to mind are those lovely strawberries.
