In 2007, a typically embarrassing delay of eight minutes to the start of the famous race puts aintree in the headlines for the wrong reasons once again. For many years it has been thought that foul play by the grand national starters were at play to disrupt the race for the many excited punters. Of course this is point blank refused by the parties involved. In this particular race many debates in the press rage as to who is at fault, with starter Peter Haynes blaming the jockeys for failing to obey his instructions. Haynes is later to be replaced by Sean McDonald.
